HINTS TO BEGINNERS: When the performer does a somersault for the first time, he sees only a blur. On the tenth time he may begin to recognize some of the features of his environment. After a great many somersaults, he will begin to get a sense of timing for opening his tuck and landing. To accustom the performer to the unusual sensation, this progression works up to the front somersault with a series of assists. The top man's objective
